Pinsent Hotel

Built in 1850 as the district’s first private hospital, the building became a hotel in 1851 and was renamed “The Pinsent” in 1923 by Anne Edith Pinsent, who set out to make it one of the finest in the region—so much so that even the notorious Squizzy Taylor once stayed the night.

Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, the hotel is renowned for serving some of the best steaks in Wangaratta, alongside a full bar, TAB facilities, and a Thirsty Camel bottleshop.

With its cozy interiors, original brick façade, and a legacy stretching back over 170 years, the Pinsent continues to be a local favourite and a welcoming stop for travellers passing through.
