Originally a watering hole for cattle drovers and gold prospectors, today it welcomes bikers, hikers, and adventure seekers from all walks of life. Steeped in history and brimming with character, our pub remains a cornerstone of the Benambra community.
Our story dates back to the 1870s when Mary Murphy, known as “Old Ma Murphy,” operated a sly grog shop to serve miners and pioneers in the Omeo Plains. Her modest canvas tent evolved into Camden House, a timber structure that still forms the hotel’s accommodation section today.
Officially licensed in 1886, the hotel has weathered floods, fires, and drought, standing as a testament to the region’s resilience.
