Steeped in history and brimming with character, our pub remains a cornerstone of the Benambra community.
Our story dates back to the 1870s when Mary Murphy, known as “Old Ma Murphy,” operated a sly grog shop to serve miners and pioneers in the Omeo Plains. Her modest canvas tent evolved into Camden House, a timber structure that still forms the hotel’s accommodation section today.
Officially licensed in 1886, the hotel has weathered floods, fires, and drought, standing as a testament to the region’s resilience.
